Resident of Pocasset from 1973, and later of Bourne Oaks in Buzzard's Bay - Mary Jacobson succumbed to Alzheimer's on Sept. 12th, She died peacefully and without pain.

Resident of Pocasset from 1973, and later of Bourne Oaks in Buzzard's Bay - Mary Jacobson succumbed to Alzheimer's on Sept. 12th, She died peacefully and without pain.

Mary became a member of the Mashpee Son's of Italy Lodge in 1984. The Lodge was paramount in her life, until her health prevented her from attending in 2011. Her love and dedication to the lodge led to her election as the first female president. She was reelected twice, serving 3 terms in total. This was one of her proudest accomplishments.

Mary was born and raised in Brookline, MA, "The Point", as it is known to the locals. She pioneered relocating to Cape Cod for her three siblings and their families.

Mary worked at several restaurants on Cape Cod prior to Falmouth Hospital's dietary department, where she thoroughly enjoyed the patients she served and her coworkers for over a decade. Before Mary ceased working at the approximate age of 76, she was employed by Home Instead as a home health aide. She has returned to her nurses aide skills first practiced at a Brookline Hospital in the 1960's. This work was also a great source of pride for Mary. She had a gift for making people feel better, physically, and emotionally. Her wonderful sense of humor was a great asset in that work. And an attribute she was well known for.
A devout Catholic, Mary was a member of St. John's Church in Pocasset. She became a member of the church's choir and shared her gift of her tenor voice with the congregation.

Mary was the wife of the late Henry C. Jacobson, and formerly the late Fredrick W. Park. The eldest of 4 children, she is survived by her brother, Robert Quattralli. She is also survived by her Children, Julie Jacobson of Falmouth, Diane Park of Randolph, MA, Fred Park of Tampa, FL, and Donald Park of Hemet, CA.. Besides her brother and children Mary is survived by 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 7 nieces.

Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 4pm - 8pm, at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd, Bourne. Church Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 10 am, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 841 Shore Rd., Pocasset, MA. Mary's interment ceremony, at the National Cemetery with be at a later date with family.
